It's fall, students are back in school, and people are looking for new opportunities! Consider adding a rewarding friendship to your life by spending an hour a week with someone with interests similar to yours! Compeer's mission is to reduce the lonelinsess and isolation of adults receiving mental health treatment with community volunteers in structured friendships.
Friends are chosen on the basis of mutual interests and commit to spending an hour a week doing something together that both enjoy. The friendships have the potential to become lasting and meaningful relationships that support both the client and the volunteer.
Extend the hand of friendship--volunteer today!
Compeer of Johnson County is a growing non-profit organization helping to change lives by creating intentional friendships. We receive referrals from mental health professionals of clients who are ready for, and would benefit from a friendship. Then we match them in friendship with volunteers from our community. What a difference a friend makes!

Celebrate Friendship
Can you feel it? There is celebration in the air!
It's time to connect, to appreciate, and to celebrate our friends.
This is a great time to let your friends know how much they mean to you. It's a particularly difficult time for those living with mental illness. Be sure to check with friends who maybe struggling or lovely during this time of feasts and frivolity.
